題目🤵🏿：Individuation in interaction: candidates’ identity construction in job interviews

摘要：This paper investigates candidates’ verbal responses in job interviews with a central interest in their identity construction in interaction. It is based on the comparative analysis of candidates’ social semiotic activities initiated by the interviewers in the exchanges. The analysis is theoretically informed by the thinking on the individuation hierarchy in Systemic Functional Linguistics and the sociological categorization of knowers in Maton’s (2014) Legitimation Code Theory. The paper shows that candidates’ identities could be modeled with reference to their context-specific mobilization of verbal potentials as well as their persona variation as primary and secondary knowers.
